Erma was an interesting child. I knew she was the second child born on August 11, 1899. I knew she was only 17 when she died on December 9, 1916. She was born, raised and passed away in Brigham City, Utah. That was all I knew about her. I was so curious as to how she died.
I found out by mistake. While I was searching for Charlotte on Ancestry.com, a link for Erma Hansen came up. I clicked on it and little did I know it was the death certificate! It had the information I needed and was looking for! That is one of the exciting parts of doing genealogy work. You can search for something and come across something completely different. Its the best feeling! It showed the cause of death, which I believe is bed sores but it's kind of hard to read. What a horrible way to die. This makes me thankful for modern medicine and technology. Here is a picture of her death certificate. Super interesting! Hans filled it out and you can see his handwriting and signature! Another exciting glimpse into Hans and Erma's life.
